Terms and Conditions of BCIS Online Services

These terms and conditions apply to the following BCIS Online services and any similar services which may be introduced in future: BCIS Online; BCIS Review Online; BCIS Rebuild Online; BMI Occupancy; BCIS Occupancy Online; BCIS Housing Online.

Copyright of the information and computer systems is vested with BCIS being a business of RICS.

The information supplied by BCIS is issued only to and for the use of the subscriber and members of the subscribers company at the subscription address.  Access from other addresses, whether via a network or otherwise, is not permitted without a subscription to cover each site except that the subscriber and members of the subscribers company may use the service while off site (eg at home or a client's office) if their normal place of work is the subscription address and they are not at another office belonging to the company which does not have a separate subscription to the service and the subscription is not at the special education rate. Access to BCIS Online via an intranet is only allowed if the subscribing company has paid for a corporate licence and provided BCIS with addresses of all company sites with access to the service. Forwarding information obtained from the service to other addresses is not permitted unless the office receiving the information has a subscription to the service which entitles them to receive that information. Only one person can use each subscription at a time (ie each subscription is limited to one concurrent user) unless additional concurrent users have been paid for.

A subscription is for an initial period of one year and can be renewed for a further period of a year. BCIS will send a renewal notice in the form of an invoice to the subscriber before the end of subscription period.  By using the LoginID and password issued to them or allowing that LoginID and password to be used or allowing access via a corporate intranet (in the case of corporate package licences) the subscriber accepts the currently published terms and conditions of the service and agrees to pay the subscription fee.

BCIS will take measures which it believes to be appropriate to ensure that only authorised users have access to the system. These measures may include periodic changes to passwords, restricting the IP addresses which can access the service, etc. The subscriber can ask BCIS to change the password at any time and must do so if they suspect that theLoginID and password have become known to a third party.

BCIS takes care over the information included in the service but neither BCIS, the RICS, nor theiragents or employees will be under any legal liability, in respect of any mis-statement, error or omission.

Information published by BCIS does not necessarily represent the policy of BCIS or the RICS, nor does any reference to commercial or trade products or methods simply any endorsement of them.

The BCIS data bank will normally be available 24 hours a day every day of the year, but there will be times when the system is not available because of a failure or for planned maintenance. BCIS will use its best endeavours to minimise disruption.

BCIS Online and BCIS Review Online are reciprocal services and subscribers are expected to participate by supplying information.
