BCIS shortlisted for British Insurance Award

Published: 21/04/2026

BCIS has been recognised as an integral partner to the insurance industry after securing a place on the shortlist for the British Insurance Awards 2026, the UK’s premier awards for the general insurance market.

BCIS was named a finalist in the Insurance Partner of the Year – Technology category for developing BCIS Rebuild Plus, a unique asset and portfolio management platform used by professionals across the insurance life cycle to validate property rebuild costs and assess reinstatement risk.

In response to an address or unique property reference number input by users, the platform calculates property rebuild cost estimates by automating the aggregation of relevant data from proprietary and open sources, alongside the configuration of BCIS cost models.

Richard MacLean, executive director at BCIS, said: ‘This recognition is a significant moment for BCIS. The platform is the culmination of our position as the authority on rebuild costs since 1978, combined with 65 years of cost data and modelling expertise, and the engineering capability to develop a product of this calibre.

‘It is a game-changer for how commercial and residential properties are insured in the UK, offering a rare opportunity for professionals across the industry to better identify risk and protect policyholders from underinsurance exposure. The prestige of the British Insurance Awards makes this shortlist particularly special.’

The latest data from the Financial Ombudsman Service show buildings insurance was the eighth most complained about financial product or service in the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year.

Underinsurance is a common driver of such complaints, arising where the sum insured is too low and the consumer does not receive their claim in full.
